Q) Is MXDA an aromatic amine?
A) No, MXDA is an aliphatic amine. Some people seem to call araliphatic amine, because it contains a benzene ring in the molecule.
Q) How pure is MXDA?
A) It is a very pure product. Though we only guarantee 99% as a minimum purity on our specification, MXDAs typical purity is greater than 99.8%. Most of the impurity is water.
Q) Why is MXDA so reactive?
A) The high reactivity originates from its molecular structure. The position of the methylene group provides freedom of movement for both primary amines.
Q) Can neat MXDA be used as an epoxy hardener?
A) Mitsubishi Gas Chemical does not recommend using neat MXDA as an epoxy hardener. MXDA must be modified chemically. We believe the best performing modified MXDA is via the Mannich reaction. |
